Homeward Bound

11th Jan, 2018

For the first  in 6 months we are heading North. This can onlymean one thing…we are on our way home!!

The NSW coast will have to wait for another trip. It’s time to get home. We are just going to have one more stop on the northern NSW coast, where we will catch up with my brother and his family, as they also come to the end of their lap around Oz.

We covered some distance today!! We left Culburra early this morning and by lunch we had skirted around Sydney and were already near Newcastle.

We drove through the afternoon and thought we would just be able to pull over when we got tired. But it seems that NSW have recently changed all the roadside camps along the M1 to day rest stops only, with no camping.

We eventually managed to find a great little free overnight camp spot at Fredrickson, just off the highway near Kempsey. They allow you to camp alongside the golf course, in a field with a beautiful outlook, kangaroos and a friendly golf club where we were able to have a few beers to wind down after a long day on the road.

It’s a strange feeling knowing that we are now just a few hours dive from home. We could be home before lunch tomorrow if we wanted to – but actually wish that we had so much more time!
